We started the realisation of this investment in July 2021. Work is taking place in both the central part of the market and the adjoining streets.

We have completed the building design and detailed design and are carrying out the construction work. We have already demolished the existing pavement, reinforced the ground, and are constructing a new pavement structure for the Market Square and the roadways of the side streets, along with the pavements. The surface will be paved with two types of paving: new paving and, in the central area, old paving selected from materials collected during demolition.

Above all, however, we carry out the replacement of all the networks under the slab, including water, sewage, gas, and electricity. As the work is taking place in the heart of the city centre, all installations must be operational throughout the rehabilitation. Only when the new networks are built do we switch off the old ones.

The operation of the rainwater drainage system will be completely changed. The combined sewer system will be divided into separate sanitary and stormwater systems. Rainwater will be retained in newly constructed underground reservoirs with a capacity exceeding 1,000 m³. The water will eventually be pumped into the Warta riverbed. We have also built one small retention tank, the water from which will be used to water the greenery in the Old Market.
