HEATING INFRASTRUCTURE | CarboSeal

Drawing on our experience, we offer services for the rehabilitation of heating networks. We have become an official partner of the Swedish company PPR, which has developed the innovative trenchless technology CarboSeal. It is a CIPP sleeve system manufactured using carbon fibre and a high-temperature, patented epoxy resin.

During the trenchless rehabilitation of pre-insulated pipelines using the CIPP CarboSeal sleeve, the parent transmission pipe remains underground, eliminating the need to dismantle it and recreate the site. Once the sleeve is pulled into the pipe, it undergoes hot steam treatment, which hardens the sleeve and attaches it to the carrier pipe. Pipeline sections of several hundred metres can be rehabilitated in a noticeably short time, with little or almost no excavation. This has huge environmental implications – less excavation means a smaller carbon footprint.

The main advantages of this technology include resistance to high temperatures (up to 130°C) and pressures (16 bar or more), a wide range of diameters (from DN 100 to DN 800, with others available upon request), resistance to hydrolysis, and no loss of fibre surface properties over time. CarboSeal technology has been applied in many European countries and tested by independent institutes, such as the Research Institute of Sweden (RISE) and in Germany (AGFW). TERLAN, as an official CarboSeal partner, is implementing this innovative technology in Poland.
